Splurge vs. Steal: Statement Earrings
If you have been following along you know that my enthusiasm for finding a good deal runs deep. The reality is the more and more I continue my blogging, particularly when I do a fashion post, I find that I am more like an "extreme couponer" version of a fashion blogger. I had several people mention to me that they bought one or more of the shoes that I posted in my, "Splurge vs. Steal: Spring Shoes" post. So I am happy to continue sharing the fruits of my deal hunting labor.
When prepping for a recent girls trip to Miami I needed some fun jewelry. I, like many out there, LOVE Baublebar jewelry. To be honest, the price points on a lot of their stuff aren't awful, and they have some really pretty statement pieces, and I feel that the quality is quite good.
Right now Baublebar tassel earrings are all the rage. Depending on which style, they are around 36 bucks a pair. Not bad but the problem is there are so many stinking colors, you can't just have one pair. So I was determined to find knock offs. I scoured the mall, department stores, etc. and wasn't finding anything that could compare. I typically never shop at Burlington Coat Factory, but I was shopping at a Marshall's right next door and decided to pop in. JACKPOT, people JACK. POT.
Here is a sampling of what I purchased based off of some styles of Baublebar jewelry I like, and what I needed to coordinate with my outfits. I will tell you that they had many other styles very similar to other Baublebar pieces. GET YOUR BUTT TO BURLINGTON!
*Note I do not think the quality is as good as Baublebar, but for me personally, I don't see the value in spending much on trendy jewelry that I may only wear for a season or two.

Sophia and Kate Earrings from Burlington Coat Factory $5.99
By the way both the Baublebar Piñata earrings as well as these I purchased at Burlington's come in a variety of other colors. Here are two more pairs I bought at Burlington:
I am obsessed with squash blossom jewelry. I have an amazing squash blossom statement necklace that I did get from Baublebar and I LOVE it. Here are some great Baublebar squash blossom earrings and equally great dupes.

Sophia and Kate from Burlington Coat Factory $7.99
Next up, some gold earrings with fringe. They obviously are not the same earring, but for the outfits I would be wearing them with they achieve the same style. To be honest, the Baublebar ones are actually a little more ornate than I'd like so the "steal" ones are perfect!

Rampage Earrings from Burlington Coat Factory $4.99
I love the natural stone howlite. I also LOVE these howlite Baublebar earrings. The dupe version is definitely less of a statement piece but has an earthy feel to it and I really thought it would go well with a lot of my military green, camo, and neutrals that I tend to wear pretty darn often.

STEAL
Sophia and Kate Earrings from Burlington Coat Factory $4.99
For my last pair I wanted something black and gold. I think black and gold are such a classic combinations and always looks sharp. I ended up wearing my steal earrings A LOT while on vacation in Miami.

STEAL
Steve Madden Earrings from Burlington Coat Factory $5.99
Ok, so I did a little math and if I purchased all of the Baublebar earrings (only one pair of the piñata tassels) the grand total not including tax would be $174.
If I purchased all of the Burlington Coat Factory earrings (for comparison sake let's say I only got one pair of the beaded tassel earrings) my grand total not including tax would be $29.95.
So basically you can purchase 5, yes FIVE pairs of earrings at Burlington Coat Factory for less than the price of ONE pair of Baublebar earrings.
Now I am SOOOOOO not going to hate on Baublebar. I did buy THESE for my trip and I LOVE them and have my eye on a couple other pairs as well. Baublebar, you are great; I am sure I will continue to buy your stuff. I am, however, one savvy shopper and if I can achieve pretty much the same look for a very small fraction of the price, I'm doing it.
Happy Shopping!!
