Finding A Perfect Holiday Cocktail Dress
Recently, I visited a local boutique, The Dressing Room, with the intention of trying on some different looks. I was mainly on the hunt for jeans and sweaters but when I saw this red dress I knew I had to try it on. I personally am often inclined to play things safe and go with a basic black dress but over the past couple of years I have been trying to incorporate more colorful options when it comes to formal holiday attire.
Last year I attended my friend Lauren's wedding which was in February and wore this violet long sleeved dress with lace detailing on the shoulders. I purchased this dress at Nordstrom and it is no longer available but wait until you see this years pick...
The sleeves on this dress totally got me. I love the simple lines of the dress but the statement sleeves really make an impact. Not to mention, I LOVE red. I think it looks flattering on all skin tones and hair colors. I look forward to wearing this dress to some upcoming events and it is certainly timeless enough that it won't be something I wear once and never again. So if you are headed somewhere fancy smancy this holiday season, try a little color! I don't think you'll regret it!!
I also tried on this fun number...it was freezing and VERY windy and I pretty much flashed all of Main St. so we only got a few quick shots! Looove the faux fur red jacket though!!!!
If you are on the hunt for something unique for an upcoming holiday party, New Year's Eve, etc. I HIGHLY recommend The Dressing Room Boutique. If you are local you must check out their stores in both Madison and Wallingford, CT. Their dress selection is simply stunning. My mother purchased her gown there for my and Trevor's wedding several years ago, and I know she will be back looking for a dress for my brother's upcoming nuptials.
