Little Man First Birthday Bash
So my son turned one in September of 2014. I am one of those moms who didn't allow him to watch any television until he was 2 years old so needless to say there weren't any specific characters he was really into at that time. He was pretty adorably into hats and my husband certainly was enjoying dressing up his "little man" so there was my theme inspiration. A good friend of mine just had her son's first birthday party and used orange and blue as her colors so she had a lot of decorative items that she was willing to pass along. Bingo, now I had a color pattern and a theme.
I started my research and incessant pinning. Bowties were going to be the name of my game.
I found this adorable invitation on Etsy and also purchased the coordinating Happy Birthday banner and personalized cupcake toppers.
For the dessert table I just bought plastic table cloths at the party store, borrowed the runner from my friend, and bought the large cardboard "G" from Joann's and painted it blue. I covered some empty boxes in wrapping paper to help with my display. We served homemade cupcakes, bowtie cookies ( I found a bowtie cookie cutter online, here), chocolate dipped pretzels, crispy rice treats (shaped like bowties), and rock candy.
For favors I made individual goodie bags for all of the children. I ordered a bowtie chocolate mold and made bowtie pops and filled the bag with other yummy treats. For everyone else I made bowties out of fabric and ribbon and attached either a pin or hair clip to them. They were a big hit and everyone pretty much wore them for the party which was very cute.
For Greyson's high chair I made a "One" pennant banner using ribbon, burlap fabric, and paint all purchased at Michael's Crafts.
For the beverage station (which is an old bakers rack that I now use for every single party and is amazing), I had your typical party drinks but also had little root beer bottles labeled "Little Man Beer", in a separate cooler I had alcoholic beer labeled "Big Man Beer".
Lastly, for my little man's bowtie I found one online from Zulilly and there was a matching hair bow that I bought for Greyson's proud Momma (I love matching!). All in all the party came out adorable. This party was prior to my cake popping days but stay tuned because I really stepped up my game for his tractor themed second birthday party!
