Fun Accessories for a Non-traditional Holiday Card
A couple of weeks ago we had Sandy, from Perceptions Photography, take our family photos for this year's holiday card. She did an AMAZING job as always, and it is going to be SO hard to narrow down the pictures for this year's card!
Before our annual shoot, I always do a lot of brainstorming about what I would like our theme or style to be for our card. Our past years' photos I will be sharing in another post, but to give you a brief idea, I have gone with more traditional holiday colors for the past few years and did a lot of reds and gold.
This year I came across a photo on Pinterest and the family was photographed in front of a old, weathered looking blue barn. I thought the color was gorgeous, and not your typical wooden or red barn.
So my next step was to think about what colors and style outfits I wanted the family to wear. I don't want to give it all away before my card goes out so for now I am only going to start with how I styled myself.
I ended up wearing a blush colored dress that I had bought for a wedding my husband and I attended last year, Over the dress I wore a chambray/denim shirt (that I have had forever), and my go-to nude heels. All of these things I already owned so wanted to have fun and dress it up with some bold accessories.
I feel that the addition of these accessories really makes it more holiday-ish, and let's be real, accessories are just FUN!
I would also like to thank The Old Blue Barn collectible and gift shop in Plainville, CT for allowing us to take our photos on their property. I googled "blue barns in Connecticut" and this darling shop popped up! Not only does it look adorable, but they carry all kinds of great items perfect for the upcoming holidays. I will certainly be headed back!
